Lincoln Coin Club

The Constitution and By-Laws

Article I-Name

Section 1. This organization shall be known as the LINCOLN COIN CLUB.

Article II-Objects

Section 1. The objects of this organization shall be to encourage and promote interests in Numismatics, to cultivate friendly relations among collectors and students, and especially to encourage and assist amateur collectors.

Article III-Membership

Section 1. Any person may become a member of this organization upon recommendation of a member in good standing and the unanimous approval of the members present at any regualr meeting when the application is considered.

Section 2. Any person who has not reached their eighteenth (18th) birthday during any part of the calendar year shall be considered as Junior Members.

Section 3. Any Junior Member who will attain the age of eighteen (18) during any part of the calendar year shall be considered as a Senior Member at the beginning of said year.

Section 4. Any objection to an application must be made in writing to the President, who shall, upon receipt, immediately appoint an impartial committee of three (3) members to investigate the charges; said committee to report its findings at the next regular meeting. The membership will then be requested to vote on the application. The one making the charges will be omitted from the vote.

Section 5. A minimum of one (1) month shall elapse between the filing of an application for membership and the election of such applicant to full membership in this organization.

Section 6. Any person who has rendered outstanding service to the science of Numismatics may be elected to Honorary Membership by a unanimous vote at any regular membership.

Section 7. All persons who are regular members of this organization prior to May 8th, 1951 shall hereafter be known as Charter Members.

Section 8. Any member who shall have cause to seek expulsion of another member must make his complaint in writing to the President, who shall immediately call the Officers and Executive Board to review the complaint and make recommendations to the membership-at-large at the next regular meeting. The President shall call for a general discussion, which will later be tabled until the following meeting where it will be removed from the table and brought up for vote by secret ballot. A two-thirds (2/3) majority of the members voting will be required for expulsion.

Section 9. A member who changes residence because of military service will be carried as a permanent member, and assessed no dues during his/her tour of duty.

Article IV-Officers

Section 1. The officers of this club shall be:

        President

        Vice-President

        Secretary

        Treasurer

        Sergeant-at-Arms

        Junior Chairman

These officers shall be elected annually at the January meeting of the club. Newly elected officers shall assume office immediately following the meeting in which they were elected.

Section 2. The President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and all Past Presidents shall constitute a Governing Board, and shall have, at all times, full power to act for the club upon all matters of interest and importance.

Section 3. The President shall preside at all meetings and shall have general supervision over the Club's affairs. He/she shall act as Chairman at all meetings held by the Governing Board. In his absence the Vice-President shall preside and act. It shall be the duty of the President to read the Constitution to the members at the first (1st) meeting he/she presides over, if it is appropriate.

Section 4. The Vice-President shall assist the President and will be under immediate supervision of the President. He/she shall, at all times during meetings, assist in maintaining decorum. In his/her absence the Secretary shall preside and act.

Section 5. The Secretary shall keep a record of all business duly conducted by this organization, and he/she shall keep records of attendance and proceedings of each meeting. He/she shall handle all correspondence addressed to the Club. He/she shall keep the minutes in duplicate, the original which shall be turned over the Club Historian at the end of the year. In his/her absence the Treasurer shall preside and act.

Section 6. The Treasurer will keep a record of all financial transactions of the Club. He/she will report once a month on the financial standing of the Club. In the absence of the President, Vice-President, and the Secretary, the Treasurer may conduct the regular business meeting. He/she may pay out money only on the order and consent of the Executive Board and the membership upon duly requested vote. He/she will maintain a petty cash fund of a maximum of $100.00 (one-hundred dollars) to meet minor expenses of the Club.

Section 7. The Sergeant-at-Arms shall assist the President in conducting business. He/she shall welcome all visitors and introduce them to the assembly.

Article V-Dues

Section 1. Every member eighteen (18) years and over shall pay annual dues of $2.00 (two dollars) which shall be payable at the January, or the first (1st) meeting of the year, and shall be considered Senior Members.

Section 2. Dues for the year shall be $2.00 (two dollars), and after July 1st dues shall be $1.00 (one dollar) for all Senior Members.

Section 3. Every member under eighteen (18) years of age shall pay annual $.50 (one half dollar) which shall be payable at the January, or the first (1st) meeting of the year, and shall be considered as Junior Members.

Section 4. Dues for the year shall be $.50 (one half dollar), and after July 1st dues shall be $.25 (one quarter dollar) for all Junior Members.

Section 5. Any member who is six (6) months in arrears with his dues shall be dropped from active membership. A member thus dropped may be reinstated within a period of one (1) year upon payment of all dues in arrears, providing no charges are pending against him/her.

Section 6. No dues shall be assessed Honorary Members.

Article VI-Meetings

Section 1. Regular meetings shall be held the second Thursday of each month.

Section 2. Special meetings for social or other purposes may be called upon due notice by the Governing Board. The Governing Board, upon due notice and with good reason, may change the date of a regular meeting.

Article VII-Order of Business

Section 1. The order of business shall be:

        1) Call to order.

        2) Reading of the previous meetings minutes.

        3) Reports of officers.

        4) Introduction of guests.

        5) Proposals and elections to membership.

        6) Reports of committees.

        7) Communications.

        8) Unfinished business.

        9) New business.

        10) Announcement of upcoming shows.

        11) Adjournment.

        12) Reading of papers, speeches, and presentation of programs.

        13) Exhibits.

Article VIII-Quorum

Section 1. In order for this organization to transact any business it will be necessary that Quorum of not less than five (5) members, in good standing, be present.

Section 2. This Constitution may be amended at any regular meeting of the Club by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote. All such amendments become effective upon the official announcement of the vote.

As the lawfully elected Vice-President of the Lincoln Coin Club, I hereby attest that the above copy of the Lincoln Coin Club constitution and by-laws has been approved by a unanimous vote of a quorum of members in good standing of the Lincoln Coin Club, and is inclusive of all changes and amendments approved by vote of the membership since its original drafting. Witness my hand this thirteenth (13th) day of February, nineteen hundred ninety seven (1997).
